Summary:
This book is the Romanian edition of Gail Kligman’s research on reproductive policies in communist Romania during 23 of the 24 years of the Ceauşescu era. The book is intended to be both a state and a reproduction policy ethnography in Romania. The form of the Romanian socialist state in terms of its personification and of its imaginary subjectivity constitutes the framework in which the control over the social and biological reproduction was used as an instrument of the “socialist construction”.
