Atria has an extensive archive comprising just under 30,000 photos of women and women’s movements in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, which were taken in a variety of locations and circumstances. They include snapshots of the pioneering Dutch feminist Aletta Jacobs on her worldwide trips promoting women’s suffrage, images of women’s lives in the former Dutch East Indies colony, demonstrations of the Dolle Mina feminists during the 1970s, protests such as the Heksennacht (Take Back the Night), strikes for equal pay and portraits of black, migrant and refugee women.

Most of these photos can be viewed on the website and ordered in a digital format. When publishing, please be aware that copyright requirements may apply.
