Life stories of emeritae female professors
2017 marked 100 years since the first female professor Johanna Westerdijk was appointed at Utrecht University. The 2017 Westerdijk commemorative year prompted Atria to immortalise the life stories of five emeritae female professors. The women portrayed are:
Jacqueline de Savornin Lohman, Professor of Social Care; Professor of Youth Protection and Youth Assistance (UvA)
Maaike Meijer, Opzij chair; professor of Gender Studies (Maastricht University)
Anneke van Doorne-Huiskes, Professor of Women in Work Organisations (Wageningen University); Professor of Social Sciences (Erasmus University); Professor of Sociology (Utrecht University)
Iteke Weeda, Professor of gender equality Issues (University of Groningen)
Toine Lagro-Janssen, professor of Gender Medicine; professor of Women's Studies Medical Sciences (Radboud University)
Their stories were recorded in full on image and sound using the oral history method. Based on the interviews, a short compilation film was made by Atria and premiered on 19 April 2018.
Moving Women's History
The video interviews will be included in Atria's oral history collection Moving Women's History.
In this way, their history is preserved, the emeritae are visible for inspiration for future generations of researchers and students.
