About Atria

Atria is the knowledge institute for women’s gender equality and women’s history. We collect and manage resources on gender equality, women’s movements and women's history, and make these widely accessible to academia and society. As an independent knowledge institute, Atria bridges the gap between research and social change. • You will develop and secure research projects and write grant applications (approximately 40% of your time).

  • You will conduct your own research and publish, present and share knowledge through leading media outlets (approximately 40% of your time).

  • You will lead a team of 4 to 6 researchers — ensuring quality, fostering collaboration and encouraging the professional development of team members (approximately 20% of your time).

  • You translate societal developments into new research programmes and knowledge products.

  • You will actively build a broad (inter)national network within the academic and societal fields.

  • You will contribute to Atria’s strategic direction through your role on the Management Team.

What can you expect from us?

  • A dynamic workplace in the centre of Utrecht, offering a great deal of autonomy and an enthusiastic and committed team.

  • An inspiring environment where you can really make a difference and where there is scope for your own development.

  • A 32-hour-per-week contract for a period of one year, with the prospect of extension.

  • Salary in accordance with scale 12 of the Social Work collective agreement, depending on your knowledge and experience.

  • An Individual Choice Budget (IKB) of approximately 18% of your salary and a travel allowance via an NS Business Card.

  • Pension accrual with the Healthcare and Welfare Pension Fund and a Career Budget of 1.5% of your annual salary for your professional development.

What do you bring to the table?

  • You have a degree or PhD in social or political sciences, history or gender studies, or a related discipline.

  • You have demonstrable experience in securing research funding.

  • You have at least three years’ experience in team leadership, or the ambition and potential to develop this quickly.

  • You are a strong communicator who takes the initiative and an analytical thinker who works well with others.

  • You identify opportunities in the field and know how to successfully translate these into new research and project commissions

  • You initiate projects and know how to engage team members so that they feel a sense of ownership

  • You have a strong affinity with gender equality, women’s empowerment and women’s history.
