What does Atria do and know?
Atria is the knowledge institute for emancipation and women’s history. Nowhere else in Europe will you find more information on gender, history and the fight for equal rights. Using our special collection and based on scientific research, we fight for equality and equal treatment.
With our collections, knowledge and information, we reflect on contemporary issues and stimulate debate on the position of women in all their diversity. We also conduct scientific research on gender equality, charting social and political developments.
Looking for an expert?
Atria has substantive experts in various areas of emancipation and women’s history, for example:
- combining work and care
- violence against women
- (online) hatred against female politicians
- historical interpretation of a current topic of significance to women, such as abortion or the pay gap
Research
Atria’s archive of organisations and individuals measures almost 1600 metres. We manage more than 117 000 books, 27 000 photographs, more than 5000 posters, 51 paintings, 16 headgear and headscarves, 4 banners of the Dolle Mina’s and many more special objects of the women’s movement such as a biker’s suit, a flute and a witch’s broom.
If you want to make use of this information as a journalistic researcher, Atria offers you a special customised tour. Atria’s information specialists are also happy to help you with your research. Feel free to contact them at pr@atria.nl.
