Only in 1919 a bill for active women’s suffrage was adopted in the Netherlands and women were allowed to vote. For decades, struggles have been waged by women from different political movements. From 1889, women’s suffrage organizations were created. They held demonstrations and lectures, organized protest meetings and exhibitions, published a monthly magazine and published articles.
Learn more about the history of the women’s suffrage movement in this special Suffrage Tour. Juul Muller (senior advisor in marketing and communication at Atria) talks about this turbulent history on the basis of special documents from the archive.
The Suffrage Tour is in Dutch.
