Women’s radio
collection highlight
In many places across the country, women’s radio stations arose. The Black Women’s radio in Amsterdam started their broadcasts on September 9th, 1984. Approximately ten women from various ethnic backgrounds were employed.
The channel originally evolved from Women’s radio Amsterdam, who started broadcasting a few years earlier but stopped in the summer of 1984. All of their knowledge and equipment was handed over to two closely cooperating groups: Black Women’s radio and White Women’s radio.
Both groups were separately subsidized by Mama Cash and stopped in 1987.
