Gender-stereotypical representations lead to inequality between men and women, from a lack of women in leadership positions to a shortage of female science students. In many cases these are stereotypes that have concrete consequences.

Representations is the process of creating an image (in the media) about a person, organization or case that does not necessarily have to correspond to reality or the facts.

Stereotyping

Stereotyping means that characteristics of one person are attributed to an entire group. A stereotype can be based on gender, but also on race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and nationality. The cause of discrimination can lie in stereotypes.
