Flamboyant

collection highlight Flamboyant

Flamboyant: a beautiful name, a beautiful flower and a beautiful poster.

In 1986, Amsterdam Flamboyant was founded by black women in Amsterdam. It was a meeting center with a library and exhaustive information for and about black and migrant women. The poster above was used to announce the various activities by the organization. The announcement shown here is of a panel discussion in cooperation with the Centrum voor Etnische Studies (Center for Ethnical studies) about what emancipation policy can offer to black and migrant women.

Black and migrant women center ZAMI is de successor of Flamboyant, which had to close its doors in 1990 due to a lack of funds.
