Summary:
The article focuses on media representations of gender minority groups in Bulgaria. It discusses the lack of tolerance in the publications of Bulgarian daily and weekly newspapers in their coverage of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transvestite) communities. The analysis is based on the study of 20 leading newspapers, published both in the capital and in the country during the period of one year. The author concludes that in the post-communist period Bulgarian print media continue to be intolerant to LGBT community and reinforce the overall negative attitude to sexual and gender minorities in the public domain.
