collection highlight Self-defence course for black women

The Kenau foundation was founded in 1981, with the aim of increasing the physical and mental resistance of women and girls by teaching them self-defence and martial arts. It was their belief that through this initiative, a contribution could be made to prevent (sexual) violence against women.

As of 1985, Kenau began to aim at more specific target groups, such as girls aged 8-12 and 13-17 years, overweight women, lesbian women, black women, women over 50, older women and disabled women.
