Summary:
The book is based an an empirical research among Cypriot women, focusing on the bi-communal feminists project “Hands Across the Divide” (HAD). Through interviews, action research and political analysis it exposes gender dynamics within the ethnic conflict on the island and its partition. The study questions the notions of ethnicity, identity, conflict and devision as intrinsically gendered and draws parallels between the patriarchal gender division and other partitions along ethnic and political lines.
