Summary:
The book is published in the context of the project “Open and save at work”. The aim of the project was to store and disseminate information on homophobia and discrimination of homosexual people. Gay and lesbian studies have lack of comprehensive investigations in human rights discourse in Lithuania. The book elaborates the discourse of sexuality in Lithuania. The chapters written by Lithuanian authors deal with social disjuncture and discrimination of homosexuals; homosexuality and work; the problems of homosexual people in private and public spheres.In the introduction “Homoseksualių žmonių socialinės atskirties kontekstas: heteronormatyvumas ir homofobija” A. Zdanevičius presents contexts of social disjuncture of homosexual people. J. Reingardė in the chapter “Iššūkiai heteronormatyvumui Lietuvoje: homoseksualių žmonių atsivėrimas darbe” deals with gay and lesbian discrimination at work; analyses sexual orientation disclosure and outlive strategies. S. Česnienė in the chapter “Homoseksaulūs
žmonės viešose ir privačiose erdvėse: socialistinis ir posocialistinis Lietuvos kontekstas” presents an anthropological analysis of Lithuanian contexts in the socialistic and post-socialistic period. She expands Queer theory about identity politics and norms build and enforced by society. S. Česnienė gives information about the lives of gays and lesbians in soviet Lithuania.
